KVM never knows what opportunity might present itself next, and she’s very excited about that. This is the place where you’ll find difficult-to-categorize but super fun things she’s done.
"A Harrowing AND Heartwarming Listener Phone Call Extravaganza" | Ghosted! Podcast
KVM was thrilled to talk with Roz Hernadez (one of her favorite comedians) about one of her favorite topics—ghosts! Listen to this Ghosted! podcast episode called "A Harrowing AND Heartwarming Listener Phone Call Extravaganza." Scroll to the episode released Dec. 16!
"Kathleen Volk Miller: 5 Things You Need To Know To Create A Very Successful Podcast" | Authority Magazine
The title explains this one! We were early to the podcast game, launching it in 2017, to be exact! We basically have an editorial meeting on air, occasionally inviting guests and always, always having fun and being grateful to our authors for letting us discuss their work.
"The Thumping" | RISK! Podcast
So, I grew up in a haunted house, which is both a great conversation starter and the title of one of my pieces that is “lost” to link rot! Listen to me tell the story instead!
Q&A at Kelly Writers House, U. Penn
Come for lunch and an informal discussion with Kathleen Volk Miller, editor of Painted Bride Quarterly, one of the nation's longest-running and highly respected literary magazines. A longtime editor and fiction writer, Kathleen Volk Miller will answer your questions about life on both sides of the editorial desk.
PBQ's Podcast Slush Pile
Click here to listen to NINE YEARS worth of the Painted Bride Quarterly’s podcast, Slush Pile! One NYE my co-editor Marion Wrenn and I were talking about how long we take to respond to PBQ submitters and simultaneously, discussing the podcasts we love. Our collective brain birthed a moment as extraordinary as the peanut butter cup when we thought, “What if we let our readers and would-be authors in on our editorial process?” And that’s what we did. On each episode, we discuss two or three poems or a piece of fiction just like we do when having a regular editorial meeting. Authors who have agreed to have their work discussed say they loved the experience and hadn’t had that much attention paid to their work since grad school or…ever. Teachers use it as a tool in their classrooms. Poetry lovers listen while on road trips. We aim to release two episodes a month and we (mostly) make that mark. Try it and join the Slushie crew!

"Slam Bam, and other casual strategies of connection" | WHYY
